Existing customers can also add it shortly after activation.

Device insurance add-on offered during device purchase and (for existing customers) shortly after activation.

  • Offered on device detail pages and in cart.

  • Eligibility validated based on customer location and device.

  • Charged via card payment (not financed).

  • Supports new device and BYOD use cases.

  • Claims handled via Asurion workflows.

Purchase flows

New device insurance purchase (new device)

Device insurance can be added during a new device purchase if the device is eligible.

  • Entry points: device detail page and cart.

  • Customer consents to coverage terms at checkout.

  • If the customer is activating a new line, coverage is tied to the new device order.

BYOD device insurance purchase

BYOD device insurance is offered only for eligible devices.

  • Eligibility follows the approved BYOD device list supplied by Asurion.

  • Customer must provide required device details and attest to device condition (consent stored).

  • BYOD device insurance can be purchased:

    • in the customer web/app experience, and

    • via the agent back-office (RC) portal.

Activation rules (all purchases)

  • New mobile users can buy MDC during purchase if the device is eligible.

  • Existing mobile users can buy MDC:

    • within 30 days of activating a line, or

    • during the add-line flow (if the device is eligible).

  • If the line is active, MDC is enabled immediately after purchase and IMEI eligibility validation with Asurion.

  • BYOD MDC supports auto-activation:

    • immediately after line activation for new purchases, or

    • after successful payment for already active lines.

Billing, settlement, and ownership

  • Device insurance is charged via card payment (not financed).

  • The platform collects the payment via the brand’s payment gateway setup.

  • The platform settles device insurance proceeds to Asurion per the agreed billing cycle.

  • Claims are handled through Asurion workflows.

Post-purchase visibility

  • Device insurance status is visible in order history / My Orders (where enabled).

  • Device insurance activation happens post-order confirmation per partner terms.
