# Churn Reduction and Margins

A typical ISP with 100,000 households and 18% annual churn loses \~18,000 households per year — at $60/month ARPU, that's $720 in lost annual revenue per household.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Broadband churn in the U.S. is roughly \~18–21% annually, based on industry surveys and telecom benchmarks.

### Part 2 — Mobile Margin

**10,000**\
**Mobile Subscribers**\
10% penetration rate by Year 3

**$\[XX]**\
**Annual Mobile Margin per Subscriber**\
$\[x]/line/month × 12 months

<mark style="color:$primary;">**$\[XX,000]**</mark>\
**Annual Mobile Margin**\
$\[x]/line/month × 10,000 subs × 12 months
{% endcolumn %}
{% endcolumns %}

Both figures are recurring. Both grow as attach rate increases. Neither requires a single new customer.

{% hint style="info" %}

* The mobile revenue is the upside. The churn protection is the floor. Most ISPs undervalue the floor.
* The effect compounds: retained subscribers in Year 1 become long-tenure customers in Year 3
* Bundled subscribers are more likely to add other services — TV, smart home, VAS
* Churn reduction improves NPS, reduces support burden, and lowers CAC over time

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.reachplatform.com/starter-kit/starter-kit/for-isps/deciding-on-mobile/churn-reduction-and-margins.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
